Svea - 2/28/2019

Svea ate waffle and fruit salad for breakfast.  For lunch she ate shepherd's pie with meat, carrots, potatoes, and green beans.  She had a nibble of whole wheat tortillas, and ate one cherry. Just in case anyone is interested:  Child Care Resources is celebrating 50 years in the Missoula community with free rides and free Ice Cream at the Carousel on March 12th, 5:30 - 7:00.  Bring friends and family.  All ages of kids are welcome. Svea was stretched out on the mattress reading this little book and then she noticed me with the camera and started rolling around being silly and goofy!  And giggling!  She seems to like the size of the small board books right now.  She looks at them frequently and packs them all over the play room.  Second picture: More Svea being silly and giggling. Next picutre: Svea knows these pieces will go into the bucket, but now she's trying to figure out how and where it works.  Yesterday I gave her ...

Svea ate two servings of French toast and ate strawberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate several bites of pork chop, ate whole wheat toast, several bites of sweet potatoes, and several bites of applesauce.  The meat was cut in tiny pieces and I mixed it in with the sweet potatoes and applesauce and she ate several bites that I fed her. It was close to 9:00 when I took this first picture and Svea was getting hungry.  She was at the gate watching Atley and Avi in the preschool room and starting to fuss.  So I asked Atley if she'd "read" to Svea while I finished up with Linnea's diaper.  So I guess in Atley's mind "singing The Bear went over the mountain in someone's bubble space" is equivalent to "reading" to them!  :) Next picture: Svea was playing with one of the shape sorters.  If you look closely you can see she's putting a strawberry in the diamond shaped hole!  Ha!  Or anything else that might fit!  I don't know how t...

Svea ate whole wheat English muffin and ate grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate most of whole 30 chili with meat, sweet potatoes, peppers, and tomatoes.  She also ate bites of whole wheat dinner roll and bites of tropical fruit. Atley went out to the Play room from going pee and announced;  "I just went pee everyone!!"  Well Linnea is not here today, Avi and Nora were still in the bathroom going pee as well, so Svea was the only one to receive Atley's announcement.  I don't think Atley even noticed that Svea didn't respond, or if she did she didn't care!  It was just important to Atley to make the announcement!! Svea was her usual sweet and busy self staying well entertained.  I kept a couple of these pictures simply because I think they look pretty dang cute.  :)  First picture I kept trying to get a picture of her combing her hair.  She acted like she knew what I was doing and would stop.  You can see she has a comb in he...

Svea ate whole grain Chex cereal and ate peaches for breakfast.  For lunch she ate half of ground beef, bites of whole wheat hamburger bun, bites of tomato, bite of avocado, and ate her oranges. We did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange this weekend and the kids were busy all morning.  Nora was playing with the shapes and shape-sorter bucket and Svea was just observing.  You can't really tell from the picture, but Nora was a bit frantic when I took the picture.  She's saying, "No Svea, no Svea, no Svea" and trying to scoop up all the shapes!   Svea just kept standing there watching.  And learning.  :) I know this next picture is from fairly early in the morning; Avi still has on her cap and socks!!  The Sisters are looking through all the food toys.  Next picture: I guess Svea found what she wanted; eggs!!  Sunny side up!!  Yummy!   Last picture; Svea knows what to do with the combs! It won't be too much longer Svea a...

Svea ate oatmeal and several bites of dried cranberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate several bites of everything;  tilapia, whole wheat elbow noodles, green beans, and applesauce. Just my opinion:  Svea is moving into a really really fun stage; lots of exploration, something new and exciting everyday, more independent by the minute, and those large motor muscles are getting more advanced as well!  You're a flipping riot Svea and I love you lots!!  Here are some pictures to illustrate my points!! Both of the first two pictures have books in them.  Svea loves the books; sometimes she'll chew on them, sometimes she'll look at the pictures!  She seems to find both activities quite satisfying!!  I love the big grin as she charges across the room wearing Avi's hat! I know I've posted several pictures of Svea with something on her head!  This morning she was very quietly playing in front of the sinks and when I looked over there she h...

Svea ate some whole wheat bagel and peaches for breakfast.  For lunch she ate bites of hamburger and sausage pizza with whole wheat pizza crust, tomato sauce, olives, pineapple, and peppers.  She ate a bite of pineapple on the side too. I took this first picture yesterday afternoon, but Svea has been doing this sort of play for quite a while now.  (And she was doing it again this morning.)  Some kids just love to experiment with covering their head.  Not all of them go tromping around blindly, although some do, including Svea!!  Ha!  And she's always chuckling to herself.  These bandanas are pretty thin so she can see a little bit. I wanted a picture of her with a book to make her look very studious!!  :)  And here it is!!  I had to be very quick with the camera because this was a short-lived pose!!  She'd done it earlier for about 6.5 seconds, so I have to confess; this time it is staged.  Haha! Next picture: Th...

Svea ate whole wheat toast and grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate bites of pork roast, bites of whole wheat tortillas, ate sweet potatoes, and ate fruit salad. Svea is really moving so much faster now.  It just doesn't work to take a picture when she's moving across the room!  I was trying to take this first picture when she was crawling across the mattress, but that didn't work either until she stopped; and she was giggling.  It was easy to follow the drool trail across the mattress though and there she was!!  :) These next two pictures are ones I took when we were just being silly and Svea was watching the other kids and then her and I were doing selfies.  Little cutie!   I took this last picture shortly after Svea arrived.  The first thing Atley saw was the wound on Svea's forehead (Atley wasn't here to see it yesterday) and she was all about what happened!?!?  "What happened to Svea!? What happened to Svea!?!?"  She...

Svea ate whole wheat English muffin and bites of dried plums for breakfast.  For lunch she ate bites of chicken, ate brown rice, bites of stir fry vegetables, and ate oranges. First picture:  As soon as the song came on Nora yelled again (she's crazy about this song); "It's Rock-a-bye-baby Gary; it's Rock-a-bye-baby!!"  Then she raced to the shelf, got a baby for herself, and started "mothering" it.  Do you think Svea is interested!?  Yes, I do too!!  And that's one of the ways learning happens here!! Next two pictures;  Ok, now this is a good example of why Svea comes to Childcare (or leaves Childcare) with a bruise across her forehead!!  She yanked up her bib (She was actually trying to get it off, but settled for this instead!!) and then stood up and took off across the room.  And she was walking fast !!  Silly kid!!  See the big grin!  And then she ran right into the gate and plopped down on the floor.  See expre...

Svea ate brown rice and several raisins for breakfast.  She ate a couple bites of salmon and nothing else.  So I also fed her a jar of infant food - mixture of carrots, pears, and blackberries and she snarfed that right down. Two times (Who's counting?  Me.) yesterday afternoon Svea stopped and gave my leg a hug.  The sweetest thing.  Thank you Svea!!  I love you too! I took this first picture shortly after Svea arrived and Atley was being silly on the mattress and making Svea laugh.  Atley's favorite thing in the world; make somebody laugh!!  So following with that theme here's the second picture:  The three older girls were done with breakfast while Svea and Linnea were finishing up.  Sometimes, when Atley finishes a meal early, I have to ask her to go play on the other side of the room.  She'll come to the gate and provide entertainment for those still eating. (Especially Nora, who finds Atley's antics irresistibly hilarious!...

Svea ate toasted whole wheat English muffin and bites of oranges for breakfast.  For lunch she had bites of ground beef, whole wheat elbow noodles, peas, and applesauce. Sometimes it's hard to get pictures of Svea doing certain things because (just like most kids this age) she's constantly moving!  In the first picture she had these two lids and she was smacking them together like tambourines!  I think Svea was even more amused by it because Atley was frantically trying to get her to stop!  (Atley was pretty sure that was against house rules!!)  So I was following Svea with the camera trying to capture it when she dropped one and then saw her own reflection in the mirror!  (Obviously these little lids have mirrors on the inside.)  And she kept getting closer and closer. Next picture: Avi was having some serious sister talk with Svea!  :)  Following picture:  Linnea and Svea were intently watching me "trap" Atley between my leg ...

Svea ate French toast and most of strawberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate bites of "hearty paleo stew" with meat, broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, carrots, and tomatoes.  She had bites of crackers and a taste of tropical fruit. Today was Atley's turn to make the official announcement: "Svea's walking!!"  Yup, she is and actually she's a true walker now because she's carrying toys and walking at the same time.  My two walking tests are (1) walking and carrying toys.  (2) Walking across the lawn.  It's uneven and hard to walk through the grass.  We'll have to wait for test number 2!! I just realized that all three pictures I took of Svea this morning have the mattress in the picture!  Well, she does like playing on the mattress and around it!  Besides there is always some activity and play near and on the mattress too!  Linnea always gets so excited when Svea arrives and in this first picture she was rolling around and trying...

Svea ate waffle and grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate chicken, whole wheat tortillas, corn, and maybe a bite or two of baked cinnamon apple. I just grabbed a mask and put it on Svea's face to see what she'd do.  She was ok with it and just sat there for several seconds before she lifted it up and over the back of her head.  Good job Svea.  If you look closely you can see one of Svea's eyes.  She took it off perfectly.  Lot's of babies will just pull straight down and then it hangs around their neck.  (I just realized this is the same mask Avi was wearing a while later  and I took a picture of her as well for her Blog.) Middle picture: Well howdy Cowgirl!!  You look like you've been riding for quite a while!!  Haha!  Sorry Svea, Gary is amusing himself he thinks he's funny!!  She was messing with the boots so I put them on her feet to see if she'd stand for a few seconds and she did.  I'm just using picture one...

Svea ate some kix cereal and I didn't see her eat any of the mixed fruit for breakfast.  For lunch she ate turkey burger, nibbles of whole wheat hamburger bun, no tomatoes, ate avocados, and no cherries. I mixed the burger and avocado together and fed it to her. This first picture is left over from Friday afternoon, but it was so cute when Nora was "teaching" Svea some colors.  :)  Nora was saying, "This is blue Svea, this is blue."  And doing each color.  She's getting good practice for being a big sister this year!! Next two pictures; We did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange this weekend and Svea found what she wanted.  Corn on the cob!  :)  She packed this around chewing on it for the longest time.  She also played with the cooking pots and she was stacking them together.  She went back to the same spot at least two more times and started stacking them again. Last picture; This toy exchange has a "barn animal" theme. ...
