Svea - 3/29/2019

Svea ate half of her cream of wheat cereal and had a taste of dried plums for breakfast.  (I call it a "taste" when it's been in their mouth!)  Everyone was pretty distracted during breakfast with the new fella here!!  For lunch she ate several bites of shepherds pie with meat, carrots, green beans, and potatoes.  She didn't eat whole wheat tortillas, and ate her cherries.  I cut the cherries in half for her and after she finally tried one, I fed her several more. So speaking of the new fella here is a picture of Callahan's first day at Little Treasures!  (Posted with permission from Momma Maddy!)  Whenever a new baby starts it always changes the dynamics of the group! So a new adventure begins as we learn about him and he learns about us.  In the meantime today's Blog will probably be shorter than normal and that may be the case for a few days.  I take pictures and notes for the Blogs everyday and we'll just see how it goes.  Here's w...

Svea ate waffle and bites of fruit salad for breakfast.  For lunch she ate baked beef kabobs with meat, zucchini, peppers, and pineapple.  She ate her brown rice and no pineapple on the side.  The kabobs were cut into nice small pieces, but she really didn't try them.  However, when I started feeding them to her, she snarfed them all down.  Also, I was feeding her the rice and she did a perfectly timed sneeze when the spoon of rice was at her lips that blew rice all over the tray!  It came with no warning and kind of startled me and I started laughing.  She probably didn't know what I was laughing about, but she was grinning and seemed proud anyhow!!!  :) First picture: This is from yesterday afternoon when I was changing Svea's diaper.  She'd grabbed this hat off the rack just behind her.  (You can see some other hats there.)  She left this covering her face for quite a while because it's got little holes she can see through! ...

Svea ate two servings of French toast and two servings of strawberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate "Whole 30" chili with meat, sweet potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, and tomato sauce.  (She really liked the chili.)  She may have nibbled on the whole wheat dinner roll, and she ate tropical fruit. First picture: I'm just posting this picture of my shirt for kicks - for the Grandparents and others who've never seen it.  I've had it for years and it's about worn out, but I'm looking for another one with the same picture of me!!  Ha!  I ask the kids; "Who's this?"  And they always answer; "GARY!"  First thing this morning I was snuggling Linnea and with no prompting she pointed at my shirt and said, "Gary." Several years ago it was Reid's Dad who said, "Hey that looks like you!"  And we've had fun with it since that time. Svea had a fun morning and played all over the Daycare.  She spent lots of time a...

Svea ate most of her toasted and buttered whole wheat bagel and ate grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate bite of pork chop, bite of whole wheat toast, ate sweet potatoes, and two bites of applesauce. I've been working hard with Svea the past several days to use "gentle touches."  I frequently take her hands and while helping her touch the other child I'm saying, "Gentle touches."  And also showing Svea what a gentle touch feels like!!  She was slapping at Nora several times this morning.  Nora seems to be a favorite target for all the kids!!  They get the best screaming results and reactions from Nora!! First two pictures:  Svea had this shirt draped over her head and was purposefully headed somewhere!  Where are you going!?  Sure enough!  Back into her corner that she likes.  There is a furnace vent "elbow" that comes out of the wall there (and goes back into the floor) and she uses that to sit on! Next picture; Sve...

Svea ate whole grain Chex cereal and ate peaches for breakfast.  For lunch she ate bites of ground beef mixed with avocado, some tomatoes, and ate some fruit salad. This first picture was taken last Friday and the kids were circling the "newbie" and checking him out!!  Isn't that cute!  Speaking of Gideon I was quickly reminded how I need to protect the newest and smallest infant when other babies are around!!  I was changing Linnea and I looked over and Svea was standing on Gideon - on his tummy.  He didn't care and wasn't making a sound!!  He's a tuff little fella, didn't cry, and made Grandpa proud!!  Haha!  However, with Baby Callahan starting on this Friday it was a GREAT reminder!!  Svea was touching the wall to balance and just standing there looking down at him.  At that age another child is no different than another toy!!  I got kind of spoiled with Linnea because she was the gentlest one ever with Svea!! I put Gideon...

Svea ate most of toasted and buttered whole wheat bagel and two servings of peaches for breakfast.  For lunch she ate a bite or two of hamburger & sausage pizza with peppers, pineapple, olives, and tomato sauce.  She ate no whole wheat crust, and ate all of her pineapple on the side. First picture: Avi was actually laying out her teddy bears and making a bed for them.  She had them covered up and was wrapping them.  Svea watched what Avi was doing and decided to lay down too!  Ha! That was actually very cute; sister just wanted to be a part of it!! Next two pictures of these two sweeties.  Linnea was just having "love surges" for Svea and wanting to hug on her and it was just too adorable!!  First, Linnea was sitting on these blocks and Svea came over.  Svea's focus was the blocks and as soon as Linnea stood up, Svea got right up on them.  You can see what Linnea's focus is!!  "Love on my Buddy!!"  Linnea closed her eyes ...

Svea ate whole wheat toast and three servings of grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate all her fruit salad and basically just touched, stirred, licked, squished, and sniffed everything else.  I didn't see any of it go in her mouth: pork roast, whole wheat tortillas, and vegetables.  (potatoes, sweet potatoes, and carrots) First picture left over from yesterday afternoon.  She's become pretty much a daredevil, but cognitively doesn't have a clue yet as to how much it hurts to fall off here to the floor!  And that's why there's nothing in this room more than about 25 inches off the floor!!!  After I took this picture I turned the green steps over; then it's a slide and she has to work much much harder to get to this spot.  And she usually gives up and does something different! Story Time for the past 2 or 3 weeks:  We are all on the couch except for Svea and every day she's been bringing a toy over and thumping somebody with it; or thumpi...

Svea ate toasted whole wheat English muffin and no dried plums for breakfast.  For lunch she ate bites of chicken with stir fry vegetables, ate brown rice, and ate her oranges. First picture is from yesterday afternoon.  We had a visitor!  Reid dropped in unexpectedly; not just for me, but for his Mom as well!  I immediately called her; "Hey! Did you know Reid is at my place!?"  (They just live around the corner.)  And it was news to her, but she was ok with it.  He said, "I haven't seen you for a long time."  (No kidding Reid!  It's been at least 2 weeks.  I drive by their house all the time and frequently stop to say hi!)  He hung out with us for 2 hours and the kids enjoyed him a lot.  Of course he knows exactly when snack time is (as soon as he gets home from kindergarten) and that's when he arrived!  He said, "You already know that I'm hungry ALL the time!"  Yes Reid, I'm totally aware of that.  Ha! Ne...

Svea ate a large serving of cheerios and no bananas for breakfast.  For lunch she ate bites of ground beef and avocado, bites of olives, tasted the tomatoes, and ate strawberries. I was momentarily distracted with a phone call that was important and I'd left the gate to the preschool area open.  Svea was out the gate and down the hall SO stinking fast!  She was storming around like a boss going in every room!  She was totally owning the place.  Dang it was cute and funny!!  I just followed her around while on the phone and let her have a look at everything! First picture; Svea had the hats and was charging back-n-forth across the room.  She goes so fast without stopping sometimes that it's hard to get a decent picture of her!!  Then in the 2nd picture she and Linnea were messing with the dress-up clothes and had them scattered around!  And Svea plopped a shirt over her head. When the older girls are in the preschool room doing activ...

Svea ate toasted whole wheat English muffin and about half of her oranges for breakfast.  By lunch time she was tired and she'd already had a cup of milk to drink so she only ate a couple bites and then "just put me to bed!"  (You can look at Avi's Blog to see what everyone else ate for Lunch.)  Every day when I put Svea down for her nap everyone has to give her a hug and kiss goodnight!  It started with Avi of course, but now it's everyone.  Including Linnea.  Svea grins and chuckles, but usually just keeps sucking her thumb!  "Yup, they all love me!" First two pictures: Svea and Avi getting some study time in the library!  Ha!  Second picture: Some times you read the books, some times you eat the books!  Ok, so it wasn't too long after I took these two pictures that we had Story Time.  Avi wanted me to read a little book and it happened to be the one Svea had in the 2nd picture!  I didn't realize that UNTIL I opened the l...

Svea ate two servings of French toast and ate a large serving of strawberries for breakfast.  For lunch she had bites of stew with meat, broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, sweet potatoes, and tomatoes.  And maybe a taste of tropical fruit. This first picture is left over from yesterday afternoon!  I'd put the hat on Svea and about the same time Avi came by with a hat on too!  So I got a picture of them strolling off.  Big Sister hanging out with the little one!  I think Avi does a great job having her sister here!!  She basically just lets Svea do her thing without interfering or being overly protective and it's great! Next picture: Svea was pretty tired and fussy by 10:30 so we had some snuggling time and that helped get her through to lunch time.  We did eat a little early.  I read books for Story Time while she laid on my lap just like you see in the picture. Last picture - Nora came by while Svea was snuggling and got some big ...

Svea ate breakfast at home.  For lunch she ate bites of chicken, bites of whole wheat tortillas, ate corn, and ate baked cinnamon apples. This first picture is from yesterday afternoon.  I was having a hard time getting Avi to wake up from her nap and she'd been sleeping for a long time.  I was banging on the toy shelf right by her head - the one you can see in the picture.  We were eating snack and not trying to be quiet.  Finally I took Svea and I sat her on top of Avi!  Haha!  And that worked.  I was pretty sure Avi would react positively, but I was close by just in case!  :)  She started grinning big when she saw it was Svea. Hey, speaking of Svea  here's another note from yesterday afternoon concerning snack time.  We had toasted bagels and tomato juice for snack and I held the cup while Svea drank the juice through a straw!  That's the first time she's drank through a straw here and she did great. Next pictur...

Svea ate kix cereal and mixed fruit for breakfast.  For lunch she ate ground turkey, whole wheat hamburger bun, maybe a taste of tomato, ate avocado, and maybe a taste of cherries.  I mixed the meat with the avocado and fed her and she likes that combination.  Lauralea was here during part of lunch time and Svea was grinning big at her and then acting all shy; she put her head down, but never took her eyes off Lauralea. I want to mention again about Child Care Resources (CCR) hosting free rides and free ice cream at the Carousel TOMORROW - Tuesday March 12,  5:30 - 7:00.  CCR is celebrating 50 Years in the community. We did a toy and book exchange this weekend and it was fun watching Svea charge around exploring everything.  As the morning goes by Svea begins to slow down a little bit, but first thing in the morning, and especially toy exchange, she's constant motion.  First picture is a good example of what I mean.  I kept backing up trying t...

Svea ate oatmeal and baked cinnamon apples for breakfast.  She wasn't too sure about those apples at first, but then I mixed them with the oatmeal and that worked good.  For lunch she ate bites of hamburger stew with meat, carrots, green beans, potatoes, and tomatoes.  She ate bites of apricots too. I'm obviously not doing a Blog on Avi today because she didn't arrive until lunch time.  (In case someone is reading this and wondering why.)  Atley said, "I'm happy that Avi's here!"  Avi was sharing her "little pony" quite nicely with the others.  She told Nora; "You gotta ride it like this Nora!!"  As she's sitting on it.  Ha! Here are a couple pictures of Svea doing something besides hanging out on the legos table!  (Which is what she did most of the morning!)  Mattress play with the two big girls and playing in the igloo; sometimes when the big girls had their flashlights in there.  Svea is getting more and more experimenta...
